Bosen/Western States Slot Race
Slot race contestants,
We would like to thank you for supporting our first ever open slot race in 2009 held in conjunction with the Bosen 3-Can Run and Futurity. It is now time to plan for the 2nd annual slot race which will be held at Ogden’s Golden Spike Arena on Friday, October 22nd. There will only be 2 payments this year, the first of $150 is due on August 1st and the 2nd of $150 will be due on September 1st. An entry form and complete details can be found above.

Those of you who had slots in the 2009 race will have 1st rights at those same slots again for 2010 so long as the 1st payment is made on August 1st. After August 1st, the remaining slots will be sold on a first come first serve basis. Due to the success of last years race, there has been much interest in those few available slots.
We are asking anyone interested in buying a new slot to make the 1st $150 payment and they will receive the remaining slots in the order that we receive payment. All applicants who do not receive a slot will have their payment returned.

Kenedees Dark Moon (by Darkelly, out of broodmare #24 Dee Kristen) turns the barrels in Las Vegas for new owner Lori from Fallon, NV. Kenedees Dark Moon was purchased as a weanling from the Bosen Production Sale by Elsha McGarry and Ross Brown of Idaho, who campaigned the good mare to an 89 speed index, total race earnings of $11,328 and a 2nd in the Bosen All Breed Futurity.

Barrel Racing Phenom, Miss Dark Flash, by Darkelly and trained by professional barrel trainer Cody Hyde won the 2nd Go with the fastest time of the Futurity (17.6) at the Idaho Barrel Futurity in Nampa, ID on 7/10 and 7/11.

Dena Kirkpatrick from Post, TX and the great mare named Kates Always First (First Down Dash X Shawne Kate, Shawne Bug).

This pretty black filly is owned by Cindy Gayle and Dena Kirkpatrick.

Kates Always First ran the fastest futurity time (15.221) at the 24th Annual BFA World Championships in Oklahoma City, OK last week. 373 horses entered the World Championship Futurity.

Kates Always First is by First Down Dash and out of the same dam as Darkelly (Shawne Kate). Darkelly is by First Down Kelly who is by First Down Dash.

$35,000 AWARDED AT BOSEN 3 CAN RUN WEEKEND EVENTS

Bosen 3 Can Run Slot Race, Bosen 3 Can Run/Western States Futurity and Bosen 3 Can run Open 4-D events made for a busy weekend in Ogden, Utah at the Golden Spike Arena. Nice horses, lots of great competitors and over $35,000 in prize money turned this weekend into a barrel racers dream weekend.

Pullers of Logan Coach Trailers and riders of Bosen Horses received $100 incentives.

In $12,000 Bosen Slot Racing action, Champion Slot Racer (with a time of 13.556) was awarded to Jill Atkinson and her horse Jiggs in the form of a $6,000 check.

In $9,620 Bosen 3 Can Run/Western States Futurity competition, 1st Go Champion was Nadene Kern and Dashing Steel with a time of 13.863. Nadene earned $722 for her efforts. Desirae Wheeler aboard TM Ima Cash with a time of 13.678 was awarded 2nd Go Champion honors and also earned $722. Nadene and Dashing Steel picked up another $1,443 as Average Champions.

In the $13,153 Bosen 3 Can Run Open 4-D contest, for Friday night Jill Atkinson and Jiggs carried over and earned $667. The Saturday 2nd Go was dominated by 10 year old Rikki Thompson and her rockin', rootin' rattlin' mount Snake. Rikki and Snake spanked the older girls with a time of 13.561 and earned $653.

Shawna Black from Pocatello, ID and her great horse Effort Cee were awarded the Bosen 3 Can Run Series Championship with a Laz Boy recliner donated by U&I Furniture.
